The Polish presidential couple was on the list of guests invited to the coronation of King Charles III. Andrzej and Agata Duda arrived in the UK the day before the ceremony.

May 6 of this year is a day that will be permanently written not only in the history of Great Britain, but also of the whole world. King Charles III, who has already served as British monarch since last September, when we bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth II, will officially be crowned. Although the new ruler of the throne has announced considerable changes and significant budget cuts, the event will be held with great pomp, and the whole of London has been preparing for this important moment for days.

Polish presidential couple at the coronation of King Charles III

Foreign media reported that King Charles III wanted to keep the guest list to a minimum, and allegedly even tore it up several times during official meetings. In the end, some two thousand two hundred people were invited to the event, including members of the British royal family, representatives of the Anglican Church, key British politicians, as well as heads of state and members of royal and princely families from other countries. In total, the list included representatives of 203 countries from around the world. Among them was the Polish presidential couple, who arrived in the UK as early as May 5. As we read on the Twitter account of the Office of the President, “at the invitation of the King, Andrzej Duda and his wife attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in connection with the coronation ceremony.”

One may think that – probably like the other representatives of the states – Agatha and Andrzej Duda did not have seats too close to the king, as they were not visible during the broadcast. However, a photo of the presidential couple was captured by a photographer as they headed to their seats in Westminster Abbey. Andrzej Duda opted for a classic black suit, while his wife wore a three-quarter dress, over which she threw a single-button waist coat. She completed the whole look with stiletto heels and a net fascinator.

Andrzej Duda plans to use the coronation for political meetings

The Polish president announced, however, that his arrival in the UK will not be devoted solely to the coronation of King Charles III, with several meetings also planned during the official visit. “The participation of leaders of other countries in the events in London will be an opportunity for talks of a political nature, including security issues, political and economic relations” – the statement said via Twitter.
